Baquba, Iraq - Three people were killed and 30 more were wounded, among them a local official and his son, in attacks across Iraq on Monday, security officials said.

One person died and 13 were hurt when a booby-trapped car blew up at a market in Qara Tapa, 120 kilometres (75 miles) northeast of the capital, an official in Diyala province said. Both Kurds and Sunni Arabs live in the area.

And in Khalis 80 kilometres (50 miles) northeast of Baghdad local official Uday al-Khadran and his son Issam were wounded in a bombing at a local market, the same source and a doctor at Baquba hospital said.

In Mahmudiyah, 30 kilometres (20 miles) south of the capital, two civilians were killed and another 10 were wounded by a bomb attack again targeting a marketplace, an interior ministry official said.

A driver and two passers-by were wounded by a bomb attached to a car in the Adhamiyah neighbourhood of north Baghdad, while an explosion in the Ghadir area in the east of the city wounded two soldiers, the same source said.
