Jury Motion Withdrawn
in Iraq Slaying Case From the Associated Press April 1, 2009 Louisville, Ky. - Lawyers
for an ex-soldier charged in federal court with killing an Iraqi family have
withdrawn a motion that questioned the potential jury pool. Attorneys for Steven D.
Green of Midland, Texas, argued in filings on Tuesday that the potential pool
is lacking blacks. On Wednesday, they withdrew the motion. Attorneys for Green, who is
white, did not return a call seeking comment Wednesday. Green is to go on trial in
Paducah on April 27 on murder and rape charges and could face the death
penalty if convicted. Jury selection is scheduled to start Monday. Prosecutors declined to
comment on the motion. © 2009 The Associated Press External link: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/tx/6353849.html |
