Lawsuit Targets Xe over Iraq Shootings

From the Associated Press

April 1, 2009

San Diego - Another federal lawsuit has been filed in San Diego against the security contractor formerly named Blackwater Worldwide.

The lawsuit filed Wednesday is the fourth to be filed in the past two weeks against North Carolina-based Xe (zee), formerly Blackwater Worldwide, stemming from its work in Iraq.

The complaint alleges three security guards for the state-run Iraqi Media Network were shot by Blackwater security as the guards tried to move along a slowing car in the King Faisal Square traffic circle in February 2007.

The lawsuit alleges the shootings were witnessed by about 20 Blackwater personnel who refused to cooperate with Iraqi authorities and destroyed documents and other evidence.

Xe operates two training facilities in San Diego.

Xe could not immediately be reached for comment.
