Background - February 25th, 2005

March 1st, 2005 - Informal Investigation Concerning the Escalation of Force on 25 Feb 05

Report by the U.S. Department of the Army, 155th Brigade Combat Team

“[…] On 25 February 2005 at around 0900 hrs, Echo Troop, 2nd PLT we where [sic] on our way to Kaslu to pick up on of our NCO’s and to do some details. We were [sic] passed check point 6, going South on Jackson Road. When a blue vehicle with no licence plate drove to our left of the Bradley. We went on and passed us, he had to be going about 55 mph to go because the Bradley was at its top speed.

So my reaction was to shot [sic] the vehicle, so I shot the first shot and it hit the trunk. The driver became more aggressive on the wheel, he sped up and was heading straight to the Bradley that was ahead of us. I quickly order [sic] my gunner to engage the vehicle. We both began to shoot (shot about 8 to 10 shots) and the driver (only one person) drove to the other side of traffic where we continue to go to the far left where he crash [sic] into a small bush [?].

“I felt that I did the right thing. My reaction was right and quick. I was really worry [sic] for our lead Bradley because the driver of the blue vehicle did not show any intentions [sic] on stoping [sic]. […]”
